Footsteps Magazine is a magazine designed for young people, their parents, and other individuals interested in discovering the scope, substance, and many often unheralded facts of African American heritage. It is an excellent classroom resource for teachers, a valuable research tool for students, and an important vehicle for bringing this rich heritage to people of all backgrounds.

This is a group of Christian homeschooling moms who enjoy sharing recipes, frugal grocery shopping tips, budget-saving ideas, cooking for large and small families, once-a-month-cooking (also known as OAMC), healthy recipes, low-fat, low-carb, vegetarian... anything goes. Do you enjoy cooking with your kids? Tell us about a children's recipe that is a favorite. Do you love to make homemade bread? Educate us on the best equipment and technique! Share a secret family recipe, an heirloom recipe, or just something you made up today that turned out great.

Online message boards and support groups are great ways for homeschooling families to share information about curriculum and teaching methods. We all like to go beyond reading the paid advertisements or professional reviews to learn from the experience of "real families." But in doing this, it's important to realize that there are as many different opinions of the best curriculum and methods as there are homeschooling families. Think of all the variations: personalities, income, number and ages of children, strengths and weaknesses, backgrounds, goals and philosophies. No wonder we don't always agree.

With the accelerating media interest in homeschooling, chances are increasing that you will receive a request to speak with a reporter for a magazine or newspaper article, a television or radio program. What will you do? You could say "no," and leave it up to someone else. That would be the simple and easy response. Or, you could say "yes," and find yourself at the start of a new and educational experience.
